I began thinking about all of the tasks that I needed to perform and all of the things that needed to be done around that house. Could I get to it all? And then I thought about my precious son.

I began wondering if I were neglecting him with doing all of the tasks that I needed to complete. Is he getting enough attention? Have I been teaching him all of the things he needs to know at age 3?

Needless to say, I was frequently calling out the Name of Jesus and asking for help and guidance for this day. I talked with my husband and begged him to tell me that everything was going to be ok. That we were on the right path that God wanted us to be on in this time of our lives.

My mind was in a whirlwind and I began getting frustrated.

Encouragement for Overwhelmed Moms

I suddenly stopped…

Thank God for His many blessings!

I began thanking God for His blessings in my life. I thanked Him for my beautiful son that I prayed for 8 years to hold. I thanked Him for our beautiful home that He so graciously blessed us with.

I thanked Him for giving me the burden and ability to write devotionals and blog to other Christian Moms who may be going through the same things I am going through.

I began feeling the weight of the day lift from my shoulders, and the cloud of overwhelm and doubt dissipated. I am THANKFUL for all that God has done for me. But the truth is that sometimes we as mothers do get overwhelmed, and that is ok.

Scriptures to Pray for Mothers

Now do this for me:

Take a deep breath, then breath out and call on the precious Name of Jesus. Believe me, when you begin to focus on Him and His love for you, you will understand that no matter how crazy life seems He has complete control of your life.

Make a list of 5 things that you are grateful for today. Maybe it’s your children, maybe it’s your home, maybe it’s having the ability to be a stay-at-home mom, maybe it’s your amazing husband who supports you in everything you do.

Maybe it’s your extended family, maybe it’s the early mornings that you get to spend with God, maybe it’s having dependable vehicles. Whatever you choose, thank God for them today.

And remember, you are doing something that is of the highest callings, you are raising the child that God has blessed you with. You’re doing a great job and you’ve got this!

These days will happen

The days of feeling overwhelmed are going to surface. Sometimes it may build up, or sometimes it may come upon you out of the blue.

But regardless of the day or circumstance, remember to shift your focus to God and allow His Words from the Bible to wash over your life like a soothing waterfall. Keep doing what you’re doing and everything will soon fall into place as they should be.

  1. I love this! Thank you for sharing, it was exactly what I needed today. I wrote every verse in my journal and will be going back to it throughout the day to meditate on it and keep my gaze focused.

The ironic thing is that I have a post very similar to this on my blog but I think sometimes it’s just helpful to hear it in someone else’s “voice” to make it fresh and new. Thank you for this post!
