7 Awesome Ways to Encourage and Inspire Your Husband

What does the inspiration and encouragement that you give to your husband look like? While we focus so much on “mommy time” and trying to find ways to pamper ourselves, have we stopped to see about the needs of our men?

Now don’t get me wrong, I am a huge advocate for mother’s getting much-needed rest and relaxation. I’ve written many posts on tips of how to find time for yourself and what alone time with God can do for you, such as “Sometimes Christian Moms Just Need a Break”, “Relaxation Tips for the Overwhelmed Mom”, “You Are Enough”, “Always Pursue a Relationship With God”, and more.

But we shouldn’t focus so much on our needs and wants that we forget to encourage and inspire our spouse to do something as well.

Here are 7 awesome ways to encourage and inspire your husband during the times that he needs it the most.

1. Send him a quick text thanking him for all of the hard work that he does.
   Let that man of yours know that he is on your mind during the day and that you are thankful for what he does.
2. Buy something small for him that you know he enjoys.
   If he’s into sports, golfing, grilling, woodworking, photography, whatever it may be, let him know that you are rooting for him and his hobby.
3. Create a peaceful atmosphere for when he comes home.
   This is huge! Men are away from their family every single day providing for the ones they love. It’s what God ingrained in them when He made them. They are providers for the family and seek to give us the best of what they have. As wives of the household, it is up to us to create a calming and peaceful, yet loving and cheerful, atmosphere for when he arrives home.
   Don’t start nagging at him the second he walks through the door. Tell him to go put his feet up for a bit and give him time to rest. He will appreciate this small gesture and relish in the peace that he has come home to.
4. Tell him that he is a great husband and father.
   Look him in the eyes and tell him what you admire about him in this aspect. Men need to hear words of affirmation from their wives. No, they aren’t big talkers like we are, but they still need to hear from the ones they esteem so highly what a great job they are doing in the position that matters the most.
5. Turn the tables and try to spoil him a bit.
   What does he like that you can show up with? Maybe he has a favorite soft drink or snack that you can purchase when you’re out and about. If you are able, take it to his office, give him a hug and let him know you were thinking of him.
6. Write him a letter.
   This is a lost art and I’d love to see it make a comeback. Express your feelings and love and gratitude in a letter and give it to him to read privately.
7. Lastly, and certainly not least, PRAY for him.
   This is the most powerful thing that you can do for your husband. Lift him and his burdens to the Lord and ask God to take care of him.
