I am thrilled to share with you the privilege that I have of writing a Guest Post on the beautiful blog by Arabah Joy. When I began praying about this post, the Lord kept leading me to a passage of scripture in Psalms. I couldn’t get away from it. So I began writing and continued praying, and through this article, God has shown me a progression of what it feels like coming out of a desert place. Not only that, but through this He has shown me what it feels like to have true intimacy with Him while in the desert. It’s an intimacy that you would only come to know while being in such a place.

In the Desert Place
We’ve all found ourselves, at some point in our lives, in a desert place. The place we never thought we would be. A place that is so far removed from the spiritual realm of where you once were or where you would ever choose to be.
But I believe those spiritual deserts are a good thing, at times. It certainly puts us on our knees, doesn’t it? It causes us to seek God with a hunger and thirst inside of us that we never knew existed.
Yet once you finally quench the ravaging thirst with the well of living water…you look back on that desert and thank God you were there. You then realize that there is nothing that can compare. Oh, how powerful a desert can be.

1. Seek God with an Intense Desire
Psalms 63:1 “God, you are my God; I eagerly seek you.
I thirst for you; my body faints for you in a land
that is dry, desolate, and without water.”
When was the last time you had an intense desire to seek after the One who could make you come alive again?
To thirst after Him and feel the fresh coolness of His living water flowing through you? Oh, what a beautiful thing it is to be so eager and thirsty for your God as you search for Him daily.
