What if I told You to WAIT?
What would you do if I told you to just wait? You’ve done what you feel the Lord leading you to do and nothing has happened yet. So I tell you that you need to wait. How do you feel? That doesn’t sound like something that you would rather do. Uh?
As I was having my devotional time this morning there was something that I read that stuck out to me so strongly. I went on with my daily duties and as I was doing so, I kept thinking about what I read this morning and how it actually applies to all of us. So I want to share it with you.
A few months ago, the Lord prompted me to read in the Bible the book of Ruth. And so I did…but there wasn’t anything that grabbed my attention. There wasn’t a feeling or anything that the Lord impressed upon me while reading that.
You know how it is sometimes when you feel that God impressed you to do something and you think a huge sign will show up! Yeah, that was me on that particular day. But nothing happened. I read it and went on with my day.
Close to a month after I read the book of Ruth there was an evangelist that preached at our church on a Sunday night. And guess what book he read his text from. Yep, the book of Ruth. God plainly spoke to me through that message that night.
The following morning, as I did my Bible reading, I opened up to the book of Ruth and it seemed as if my eyes had been opened. I realized that God had wanted me to read these passages of scripture before I ever heard the sermon so that I would be prepared and alert to hear Him, and I would know that it was Him. If you ever feel like you should read a certain passage of scripture, do it. You may not feel anything at that moment but God is preparing you for what’s ahead.
I frequent the book of Ruth now to keep fresh what I feel that the Lord wanted me to know and understand from that particular message from the evangelist. This morning I opened up my brand new Women’s Study Bible that I received yesterday (an early Mother’s Day gift) and began reading in Ruth. I was reading all of the neat commentary sections about Ruth and Naomi and what this women’s Bible had to say about the events that occurred during this time.
There was something stated that my heart said: “YES, YES, YES!!!”. I want to share it with you, and I pray that it encourages you!
“After you fulfill your responsibility, you must wait in expectant hopefulness for God to carry out His plan.”
This past year God has asked my husband and me to do some daring things. But you know how we ladies can get. We want to know when things are going to happen. Why are we asked to do this? What is the purpose? What does God have planned? Why are we being asked to do this if nothing is going to happen right away?
Do you ever feel that way?
I have often thought to myself, “Ok things should be going differently by now. I must not be praying the right prayer. I must not have heard God correctly. Maybe I should do more, or something different”.
But reading that one sentence today summed it all up for me. You may feel that you have done everything that God is asking you to do. You may feel that things should be going a little differently since you’ve stepped out in faith to do as God has asked. You may feel that the timeline of waiting has been too long for you to receive what God wants to pour out to you.
So I came up with this acronym WAIT. Women Anticipating Impeccable Timing.
I have been mulling this over in my mind all day and I decided to look up the meaning of what I had come up with. Although I know what each word means, I wanted to dive a little deeper for my understanding.
Women-Obviously God’s wonderful creation. His Word says that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made”.
Anticipating-Expect or predict. Take action in order to be prepared.
Impeccable-Flawless, perfect, without error
Timing-An occurrence of time, the ability to select the precise moment for something for optimum effect.
In other words, fulfill your responsibility of what God has directed you to do and then WAIT. We women must expect and take action to prepare for the perfect, flawless and precise moment that God decides to do what He wants for the optimum effect.
The next time that you feel anxious about something that is not happening according to your plan or you feel a nudge of impatience, I want you to remember to WAIT.
Women Anticipating Impeccable Timing of God.
Women Anticipating Impeccable Timing of your finances.
Women Anticipating Impeccable Timing of healing.
Women Anticipating Impeccable Timing for your marriage.
Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Psalms 25:21 “Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.”
Psalms 27:14 “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.”
I completely understand that it is hard to wait for things that we are so excited to have and are looking forward to. Believe me, I am feeling that right now. All God asks us to do is our part, and allow Him to do the rest. I find peace in knowing that He has it all under control.

Very good reminder. Seems like we live in a world of instant gratification, it is sometimes hard to be patient. God’s time is so different from our time and sometimes it is hard.
Donna, you are so right. God’s timing is different from what we would like, but it is always worth the wait.
God Bless!
